Costs, sourcing, and procurement

Construction prices are meaningful only alongside scope, location, date, and exclusions. This page collects the buying questions shared by countertops, plywood, gravel, pools, and foundations.

Normalize the quote

Item Comparable quote basis
Plywood Exact panel specification, usable area, delivery, waste
Countertop Slab, fabrication, edge, cutouts, supports, installation
Flooring Preparation, moisture treatment, material, installation, transitions
Gravel Aggregate, delivered quantity, base, drainage, edging, labor
Pool Excavation, structure, finish, equipment, deck, startup, permits
Foundation Design, ground preparation, utilities, concrete, labor, inspections

A material-only price cannot be compared directly with an installed price. A lower unit price may create more waste or need more preparation.

Buy in dependency order

Finalize performance and appearance requirements before shopping by brand. Identify long-lead or dimension-dependent components early. Avoid ordering fabricated work before its supporting construction and model-specific openings are settled.

For suppliers and contractors, request the actual product, current availability, scope, exclusions, lead time, warranty, and repair route. Retain sample approvals and specifications.

Historical estimates

The retrieved conversations contain per-sheet plywood prices, installed countertop ranges, slab DIY estimates, gravel budgets, and premium-pool budgets. These were context-dependent estimates from earlier discussions. They are deliberately not presented as current prices or used to establish a construction budget.

What still needs research

Current Pasadena-area maple-plywood availability; current countertop quotes and fabrication schedules; actual gravel delivery prices; and pool/foundation bids remain open. Permit requirements must be checked for the specific property and work.

Design software belongs here when relevant questions are recovered; no software comparison is invented from the screenshot alone.
